FidoDarts match system

Match Features

FidoDarts is built to make dart competition fair, clear, and engaging for players at every skill level. Rating measures performance and tracks a player’s current level; Handicap helps players of different abilities compete on balanced terms; Sandbagging protection detects abnormal results and safeguards competitive integrity; and Cork provides a consistent way to decide who throws first. Together, these four features support casual matches, leagues, and organized tournaments with rules players can understand and trust.

Rating

Rating

For players who thrive on competition, FIDODARTS defines a 1–25 Rating scale based on the difficulty benchmarks of four steel-tip disciplines: 01 Games, Cricket, Count-Up, and Consistency. A higher number indicates a higher skill level. The 25 Ratings are also mapped to 10 Flights (C, CC, CCC, B, BB, and so on), giving players a quick and intuitive way to understand their playing level.

Players can use both sides’ Ratings to apply Rating and score handicaps. This allows opponents of different abilities to compete on more even terms and keeps every match genuinely open.

Handicap

Handicap

Automatic Handicap

  1. The higher-rated player gives the lower-rated player a fixed score advantage.

  2. Automatic Handicap is not applied to players who are not logged in.

  3. If either side has a Rating of 0 when the game begins, Automatic Handicap is not applied.

  4. For teams of two or more players, the handicap is calculated from the Team Rating.

  5. Team Rating is the sum of all team members’ Ratings divided by the number of players.

  6. The handicap is capped at a difference of 12 Rating levels.

Sandbagging

Sandbagging

Sandbagging rules apply only when an event has both Handicap and a Sandbagging Threshold configured, and only in League, Tournament, and Round Robin play. In a League, Sandbagging is evaluated by Set or Leg according to the competition format; in a Tournament or Round Robin, it is evaluated for each Match. If both sides trigger Sandbagging, the original result stands and play continues. For teams of two or more players, the determination is based on the Team Rating. The organizer sets the Sandbagging Threshold.

Cork

Cork

FIDODARTS provides a Cork (bull-off) feature for Classic Games, Global Match, and all competitions. Players throw for the Bull to determine which side has the first throw.
